Nutrition

Nutrition plays a fundamental role in maintaining and improving your overall health. Our nutrition services are designed to provide you with personalized dietary guidance that supports your unique health needs and goals. It’s not just what you eat but how your gut works.

How Others Do It

In most clinics, a nutrition consultation means showing up, getting shamed about what you’re doing wrong, being made to feel bad about your weight or your food cravings or your lack of knowledge, and leaving with a generic diet recommendation, like paleo or low fat, or a specific meal plan that no normal person could ever stick to over the long-term. As expected, you fail, return, get chastised and continue to blame yourself. But maybe the problem is not you but the standard approach to nutrition.

What to Expect

Personalized Nutrition
Our approach begins with an in-depth analysis of your current diet, lifestyle, and health goals. We take into account any medical conditions, allergies, and personal preferences to develop a tailored dietary plan that fits seamlessly into your life.

No Evil Foods
The truth is that no food is inherently evil, and your choices around food are not “bad” or “good.” The real question is, “In this moment of my health, what foods are helpful and what foods set me back?” If you read about nutrition, some say meat is evil, others fat, and others grains or even root vegetables or tomatoes!  It may be that some “bad” foods are perfectly fine for you and cause absolutely no negative effects and some “good” foods are contributing to all kinds of inflammatory responses that are keeping you sick. What matters is what your body needs right now to get well.

No Blame
The assumption most practitioners make is that the only reason their protocols fail is “non-compliance.” There may be a kernel of truth to this, for example they may recommend a diet that is so deficient in nutrients that you continually crave other foods and are unable to stick to it. The real culprit is the nutrient-deficient diet, but you technically qualify as non-compliant, so the practitioner blames you, and you blame yourself. This leads to an ongoing start, try hard, blame self, give-up cycle.

Partnership
In our clinic, we work with you as partners. We give you step by step advice that you can implement one little piece at a time. We are gentle and non-judgmental. If something is not working, we’ll help you navigate it, or we’ll change the approach. We won’t demonize you, your food or your body, because we know that your body is doing everything it can to help you and heal you. You eat what you eat, because your brain and body have decided that it is what will help you feel better, and that’s nothing to be ashamed of. Unfortunately, most of our instincts are based more on short-term relief. Once you remove the drivers of food cravings, and you better understand what is contributing to your health and what is harming it, you can make the choices that make you feel better for the long-term. That’s the kind of freedom we can help you restore.

In-Depth Evaluation
In your In-depth Evaluation, we already determined what systems aren’t functioning well, so we already know if you have digestive dysfunction prior to starting any nutrition counseling. This allows us to work with you to create a bio-individual nutrition plan based on properly prepared, nutrient-dense, real, whole foods: no diet dogma, no evil foods, no shame, no deprivation or punishment. We pull from dozens of diet approaches to customize a path for you that is delicious, fulfilling and makes you feel good.

Empowering You
As your symptoms calm and your function begins to return, you start to be able to see your body’s signals for what they are, a communication about what it needs to heal. This is the real goal: restoring the connection to your body’s innate wisdom. Your body knows how to heal, it just needs the right support. Our goal is to help you build the skills you need to hear your body and make the choices that support your health, for the rest of your life, even if your needs change over time.

Ongoing Support and Adjustments
Nutrition is not a one-size-fits-all solution. As you progress, we provide ongoing support and make necessary adjustments to your dietary plan. This ensures that your nutrition plan evolves with you, adapting to changes in your health and lifestyle.

Integration with Other Therapies
Our nutrition services are designed to complement our other treatment approaches, such as targeted supplements, herbal medicine, and detox strategies. By integrating nutrition with these therapies, we enhance the overall effectiveness of your treatment plan and lay the foundation for lifelong health.
